CA-ORC- Landfill IC - WUI Wildland Fire - 2000+ acres

New Start south of Olinda Landfill, Yorba Linda area, Just Northwest of Brea.
This may become a major fire and merge with the "Freeway fire".

ROAD CLOSURES: The California Highway Patrol is reporting the following closures
  • The westbound 91 freeway, closed on both sides, between Imperial Highway and Corona freeway
  • The northbound 241 toll road, closed at Santiago Canyon Road
  • The 57 freeway, closed on both sides, between Imperial Highway and the 60 freeway
  • The 55 freeway, closed at eastbound 91 freeway; traffic is being diverted to westbound 91

Brea closures:

  • Northbound Santa Fe Road, closed at Lambert Road
  • Road, closed to eastbound traffic at Valencia Road
  • Northbound Valencia Road, closed at Lambert Road

Anaheim Hills:

  • Santa Ana Canyon Road is closed, between Gypsum Canyon Road and Imperial Highway
Update: 18:30hrs - The Brea fire has jumped the 57 freeway, from east to west, in the area between Lambert Road and Tonner Canyon Road (near Brea Boulevard and Brea Canyon Road. Possible structural damages at Brea Olinda and Brea Canyon high schools.
The fire is being fought under these five regional names: Pepper Tree, Tonner Canyon, Ranch, Wildcat and Carmichael. It has not gone south of Lambert Road.
Update: 18:20hrs - At least 15 homes have burned on Blue Ridge Drive, Merryweather Circle, Camino de Bryant and Big Horn Mountain Way. Three houses now destroyed on Merryweather , Two additional houses on Merryweather Circle in Yorba Linda have just been gutted by the fire, Destroyed today 27195, 27190 and 27185 Merryweather.
Update: 18:00hrs - 2000+ acres, parts of the 91, 57, 241 and 55 freeways were closed. Firefighters are actively working on containing the fire on Wildcat Way where the schools are located and on keeping it from jumping the 57 freeway. Fire is encroaching area of Fire Station No. 3, the site of the Brea fire command center.
Update: 15:00hrs - Fire heading into La Habra Heights, North of Lambert west of 57 Freeway.
Brea Canyon Continuation High School was nuked.
The fire whipped through Brea Olinda High School’s athletic fields. The fields were left essentially undamaged although the fire scorched outbuildings and vegetation surrounding them.

Fire has crossed Hwy 57 to the west side
